David Miller, 82, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Tuesday.

Although welcomed into the world on a blustery day on January 26, 1926, David Roswell Miller was escorted away by the early springtime sun on March 18th. Lifetime resident of Kootenai, this son of Don and Amy Miller dedicated his life to his one of his passions: the wilderness and everything in it. Eager to see the world and serve his country, a young 16-year-old Dave joined the Merchant Marines despite age regulations. His tenacity was not unnoticed by his later wife Lucille E Cochran as they soon had two children, Steven and Diane. As Lumber Inspector for Western Wood Products and later Plant Manager of the Sandpoint Louisiana Pacific lumber mill, Dave excelled and learned all aspects of the lumber industry. His many awards filled his home and heart almost as much as his handpicked huckleberries filled his pancakes. Reading the rings of Dave’s life, we remember a joyous, comical, and down-to-earth jack-of-all-trades who loved the great outdoors. We wish him much fresh air and fruitful hunting and fishing wherever he may roam.
Survived by granddaughter Kim Lippert, daughter Diane Miller, son Steven Miller, sisters Ina Jacobson and Pat Shadel, along with brothers Lyle Miller and Jerry Miller as well as numerous extended family and friends.
