William E. “Bill” Duryea, 91, passed away at his home in Careywood on Thursday,
April 3, 2008.
The vigil rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 6th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 7th, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 6th and Oak, Sandpoint, ID. Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Coffelt Funeral Service on Sunday, April 6th.
Bill was born in Atlantic City, NJ on January 13, 1917 the son of Robert and Florence Duryea. In 1935 he graduated from high school, in Atlantic City, and became a baker by trade. During WW II he served with the US Navy, and then married Minnie L Balestrieri on Feb. 9, 1946 in Atlantic City, NJ.
For 28 years he was a baker for Kent’s Bakery in Atlantic City and then worked for 23 years in a machine shop. He moved to Careywood, ID in 1998 and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on clocks and watches, swimming, fishing, and wrestling.
His wife of 62 years, Minnie L. Duryea in Careywood, ID; two daughters Mary F. Stelly of Careywood, ID; and Erminie Gold of Frisco, TX; 4 grand children and 7 great grand children all survive Bill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard, and two sisters Bertha and Elizabet.
