Former Sandpoint fire chief, Wade G. Brown, 72, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at his home.
Memorial services will be conducted 10:00AM, Monday, July 29, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church.
Wade was born on April 27, 1941 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho the son of Wade and Marie Brown. He was raised in Sandpoint, attending local schools and graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1959. He attended the U of I, later working for the family business Brown Buick in Sandpoint and the Great Northern Railroad. He joined the Sandpoint Fire Department, worked his way through the ranks becoming the Sandpoint Fire Department Chief. At that time he was the youngest Fire Chief on the West Coast. He retired, from the department, in 1985.
In retirement he enjoyed his gardens and caring for the animals in the neighborhood. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1376.
He is survived by 5 children Darlene (and Wes) Wagar in West Richland, WA; Kathie (and Jesse) Welch in Wenatchee, WA; Pat (and Gina) Perry in Gilbert, AZ; Mark (and Tammy) Perry in Snohomish, WA; Mike (and Kathy) Perry in Sagle, ID; 10 grand children and 2 great grand children. Also surviving are his brother Doug Brown in San Marcos, CA; his sisters Judy Gill in Newport, WA; Diane Whitney in Sequim, WA; and his step mother Marilyn Brown in College Place, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his baby sister Marla Rasmussen.
