Arlene Ruth Paulson

March 27, 1923 — September 13, 2013

Arlene “Gram” Paulson, 90, of Post Falls, departed her earthly life September 13th due to complications from surgery and is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Arlene was loved and adored by many friends and family. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio March 27, 1923, the daughter of George and Alma Creaser. After leaving Cleveland, at age 8, for Southern California, Arlene spent many of her most memorable years living on Catalina Island, graduating from Avalon High School in 1940. Arlene resided in and around Lomita, CA for over 65 years prior to moving to Idaho in 2011. Arlene, and her husband Bob, owned a health food store (Blaine’s Nutrition) in Redondo Beach for 22 years. Up until the day she left us, she was an avid health nut often sharing her knowledge with others. She enjoyed being a mom to her 4 boys, and played a mean game of cribbage. Once she joined the gang at the Garden Plaza (independent living facility), she took an interest in Wii bowling and joined their team the “Alley-Gators” who often engaged in battle against a number of other retirement homes throughout the area. Arlene was a kind and generous soul often bending over backwards to help others. Arlene is survived by her sons Ralph Emerson (Louise), Rick Emerson (Barbara), and Mark Paulson (Margie), as well as 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great–great grandchild, as well as other very close friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paulson, son Randall Emerson (Victoria), and her grandson, Todd Emerson. A small memorial was held at Garden Plaza in Post Falls on Wednesday, September 18th at 3:00 pm. A private friends and family celebration honoring Arlene will be held in Southern California in the coming months. Arlene’s wish was for all she knew to enjoy their lives to the fullest and have no regrets. Her favorite saying was “Let go and Let God.”
