Dorothy L. Ames, 93, passed away, at her home in Dover, on Monday October 21, 2013.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, October 26th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jon Pomeroy, Sandpoint Church of God, will be officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born March 19, 1920 in Westmond, Idaho the daughter of William and Myrtle Deroshia. She attended local schools graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1941. While in high school she played half court basketball. During WWII Dorothy lived in the Seattle area and worked for Boeing.
She was married to Rolland “Rody” Ames on July 5, 1941 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. Together she and Rolland lived in Dover where she was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and doing crossword puzzles with family and friends. She was member of the Dover Community Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by two children: Gloria (Gene) Holt of Sandpoint, Richard (Mary) Ames of Spokane; 5 grandchildren: David, Michael, Ryan, Luera, Troy; 4 great grandchildren; one sister: Vivian (Victor) Tillotson of Syracuse, NY and a brother-in-law: Jack (Rene) Ames of Dover. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
