Janie Bradetich, age of 83, of Algoma passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at Life Care Center of Sandpoint.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30AM, Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Tony Nelson, officiating. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at Coffelt Funeral Chapel on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 from noon to 5:00PM.
Janie was born June 20, 1930 in Sandpoint, Idaho, the eleventh of twelve children, and the daughter of George and Chloe Hawkins. She attended schools in Sandpoint and also in Seattle, WA. Following WWII she returned to Sandpoint and on August 10, 1947 married David “Dick” Bradetich in Thompson Falls, MT.
Janie worked as a nurse’s aide, and waitress at various restaurants in Sandpoint. She, along with her close friend Margie McDowell, started their beauty shop the “Hair Hut.” She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Sagle Helping Hands, and Sagle Community Hall.
She enjoyed cross stitch, gardening, crafts, playing cards, working at the Bonner County Fair, and spending winters in Arizona. However, the greatest joy in her life was spending time with her family, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and
her extended family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Dick (Karen) Bradetich, D.J. (Pam) Bradetich both of Sagle; 7 grandchildren Bobbi (Curtis) Quenzer, Randy Verdal, Andrea (Rob) Ryan, Ryan (Lisa) Bradetich, Pepper (Dave) Abbott, Alaina (Steve) Tallman and Claire (Randy) May; 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Ruby (Gene) Patterson of Sandpoint, Beulah Hale of Priest River; 1 brother Ralph (Marie) Hawkins of Sagle, ID; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws, and two very special friends- Margie McDowell of Sandpoint and Cliff Irish of Westmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David “Dick;” 2 children, Vicki Verdal, Roy David Bradetich; great granddaughter Darlene Lynn Daniels; 4 sisters, Opal, Pearl, Noeline and Lawana; and 4 brothers, Lynn, Bob, Pershing and Wayne.
The family suggests memorials to the Eagles Auxiliary or Bonner County Hospice.
