Juanita D. Brodeur, 86, of Sandpoint passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Life Care of Sandpoint.
A private family service will be held in the spring.
Juanita was born April 23, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama the daughter of Jerome and Hattie Bell Howard. She lived in Mobile, Alabama until 12 years of age at which time she moved to Los Angeles. She graduated from high school and in 1946 married Russell McMenamin in Los Angeles. She worked as a legal secretary in a law firm and on Dec. 10, 1972 married Russell Brodeur in Los Angeles.
She and Russell moved to Sandpoint in 1989. She was active as a volunteer at Bonner General Hospital and became president of the ladies auxiliary.
Juanita was an accomplished artist and also an art teacher. She was a published author of children’s books, and excelled at making personalized cards for family and friends. She also enjoyed all types of arts and crafts.
She is survived by her children: Doug (Sheryl), Jill (Ron) Archer, Carol (Robert) Cyr, David; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and 1 brother: Jerome Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 brothers.
