Jean Marjorie (Tucker) Goullette passed away January 25th after a short illness at her apartment at the Bridge Assisted Living facility in Sandpoint. She had celebrated her 87th birthday just six weeks prior.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Stan Norman of the Sandpoint United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Jean was born December 12, 1926 in King’s Heath, a suburb of Birmingham, England to Arthur and Clarice Haines. She was the eldest of four children. She attended schools in Birmingham taking advanced courses after graduation. She was a teenager during World War II and later worked for Cadbury Ltd as a sales clerk.
She met and later married Kenneth W. Tucker of Sandpoint at St. Bartholomew’s Church in September of 1945. She crossed the Atlantic with other war brides and joined Kenneth in Sandpoint in April of 1946. She spent her energy as a housewife and mother, eventually having three children. She joined her husband as he travelled surveying power lines for Bonneville Power. The family moved to Dover, Idaho in 1951 and it was her home for 52 years.
She and Kenneth were later divorced.
She later met Keith E. Goullette, Sr where both attended the Sandpoint Methodist Church. Jean and Keith married on July 31, 1976. They spent their years travelling the U.S. and Canada. They spent the winters in Wickenburg, Arizona. They returned home each May and then started travelling the Northwest and Canada with their many friends.
Keith passed away in 1999. Jean spent the next 14 years living in retirement apartments and finally moved to The Bridge Assisted Living facility.
She loved Bingo and played at least twice a week. Jean had a wonderful smile and was loved by all who met her. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched; her children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as all her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Goullette, Sr, her parents Arthur and Clarice Haines, and her brothers Maurice and Roger Haines.
She is survived by her children: Dale (Sue) Tucker of Sagle, Gail Bishop of Coeur d’Alene, Neil (Mary) Tucker of Sandpoint; her stepchildren: Keith Goullette, Jr, Jim Goullette, Judy Clay; her 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
We will all miss you!
