Verna Irene Fergel, 73, passed away at her home in Clark Fork on Friday, February 14, 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clark Fork with Father Bob Lily officiating. Interment will following in Clark Fork Cemetery. The viewing for Verna will be held from 4:00-6:00pm on Tuesday.
Verna was born August 12, 1940 the daughter of John and Aimee Knispel in Flasher, North Dakota. She grew up on a family farm/ranch just north of McIntosh, South Dakota. She attended grade school and high school at McIntosh and a semester at Dickinson State College. She married Adolph Fergel on Jan. 7, 1964 and they lived on their farm/ranch in Shields, North Dakota where they farmed and raised their family until 1984. They then moved to Clark Fork, Idaho and finished raising their family.
Verna loved the outdoors and working with the animals on the farm. She had a special love of raising and caring for her horses. She was dedicated to her family and was always there when they needed anything. That commitment to family has been instilled in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by 4 children: Timothy (Bonnie) Fergel of Sagle, Idaho, Tom Fergel of Clark Fork, Paul (Mae) Fergel of Boise, Idaho, Bernadette Fergel of North Dakota; two grandsons: Troy Fergel of Sandpoint, Idaho, Stephen Fergel of Sagle, Idaho; granddaughters Savannah Fergel of Plains, Montana and Samantha Fergel of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by nine siblings: Mildred (Albert) Seidel of Mandan, ND, Donald (Alvina) Knispel of Jones, OK, Rose Besser of Carson, ND, Pearl (Robert) Calkins of Lynwood, WA, Florence (Larry) Hinderer of Carson, ND, Dorothy (Ivan) Draskovic of McIntosh, SD, Elaine Miller of Mandan, ND, Laura (Doug) Doll of Mandan, ND, and Erma (Lyle) Wohl of Linton, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Fergel, one son: Clinton Fergel, her parents and two brothers: George and Ernest Knispel.
