Vesta Mae Berry

July 23, 1916 — June 12, 2008

Vesta Mae Berry, 91, who was know to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as “Ga” went peacefully home to our Heavenly Father June 12, 2008 in Henderson, Nevada. Graveside services will be held 2:30PM, July 5, 2008 at the Westmond Cemetery in Cocolalla, Idaho. Born July 23, 1916 in Lebonon, South Dakota, Vesta Mae Garrison grew up and in 1936 at twenty years of age married Elwood Argyle Berry in Los Angeles, California. Eventually to be known as “Poppa Berry”! Ga and Poppa were married forty-five years before his passing in 1981. They spent twenty years as residents of Cocolalla, Idaho. She continued her life journey for twenty-seven more years without him. Ga lived life as an example to everyone of personal strength and grace. She had a calm and peaceful manner and was quick to smile or laugh. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed to knit and crochet. There was always something yummy in her kitchen! Some of the favorites were her apple pie and raspberry dessert. She also canned the fish that Poppa caught all summer long then smoked in the fall. A great treat during the long winter months spent dreaming of summer again! Vesta is preceded in death by her husband Elwood, daughter Maralyn Heki in 1988 and her son mark Berry in 2007. She is survived by daughters Gail (Bob) Wilcock in Henderson, Nevada and Dede (Steve) Christensen in Tempe, Arizona; numerous grandchildren, including Aaron, Steven and Juliann (Unger) Heki all having grown up in Cocolalla; numerous great grandchildren: including Sarah (Dickson) Anna (Hathaway), Alan, Elizabeth and Joseph Heki all from Sandpoint, Sybil (Hamilton) and Sam Tolley, Patrick Heki; great great grandchildren: Chela, Tanner, Trinity, Wyatt, Mattiesyn in Sandpoint and Zoe Heki in California. We love you Ga and will cherish the memories you have given each of us. We will share them and keep you close in our hearts. We know you are happy and enjoying the rewards and reunions of Heaven!
