Myrtle Brennan Churchill, 91, passed away on Sunday morning, May 18, 2014.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in Coffelt.s Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jim Osman, pastor of the Kootenai Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Myrtle was born Dec. 27, 1922 in Dickinson, North Dakota the daughter of William and Emma Brennan. She attended schools in Dickinson and later attended designing school. She lived in the Tri Cities area of Washington. On Nov. 25, 1966 she married Harlan Churchill in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and he became the father of her children. They established their home here in Sandpoint.
Myrtle enjoyed commercial fishing, hunting, her horses and bowling. She was gifted in sewing, quilting and needlepoint. She was active in the Panhandle Rodeo Association, serving as secretary for many years and running the cook shack. Riding her quarter horse mare Babe, in area parades, with her friends was an important part of her life.
Myrtle is survived by three sons: Frosty Rief of Davenport, WA, Rusty Rief of Sandpoint, Idaho, Dusty Rief of Nine Mile Falls, WA; 2 daughters: Pattie Rief of Phoenix, AZ, Shirley McQuary of Yakima, WA; 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and 1 brother Bill Brennan of Walla Walla, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; 1 son: Gary Churchill; and by her parents.
