Mathilde O. “Tillie” Solce, 87, passed away in Kootenai, Idaho on Friday, May 30 2014.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 7th, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clark Fork, Idaho.
Tillie was born in Doebrok, Germany on September 10, 1926 the daughter of Herman and Maria Obermeyer. She started school in Germany after her parents had immigrated to America to start a new life. In 1935, at the age of 9, she traveled by boat to New York to rejoin her family. She graduated from high school in New York, the first of her family to do so. Following graduation she worked in a bank and married Edward J Solce on November 13, 1948 in New York, New York.
She lived on Manhattan Island and in Queens prior to moving to the Denver area in 1962. She also lived in Millard, NE; Westchester, Ohio; and Albuquerque, NM moving to Heron, Montana in 1989. She was active in the community affairs and in the Noxon Senior Center. She has made her home in Clark Fork, Idaho since 2003.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clark Fork. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and participating in community functions.
Tillie is survived by her husband, of 65 years, Edward J Solce of Clark Fork, Idaho; three children Joseph Solce, Ed J. Solce Jr (and Sonna); Maria Myers all in Heron, Montana. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
