Chuck was a special surprise to Ray and Phyllis Corliss. They were 46 and 48 on October 25th, 1956, when he joined their family in Springfield, IL. The old farmhouse was already filled with muddy boots, overalls, plaid skirts, and teased hair, as their three sons and two daughters were nearly grown. But big loving families always have room for one more.
He grew up and went to school in Eugene, Oregon. When his dad died when Chuck was 17, social security paid for trade school, where he became a body man and painter of cars. He married Jody Lynn Dandurand in 1982, instantly becoming a family man, and never looking back.
Diagnosed in May 2013 with throat cancer, this March he needed a tracheotomy. But he continued to work every day, with son Ivan, at his shop in Ponderay, Bad Boy Customs. He died on the way to work Tuesday morning, June 3, 2014.
He is survived by all of his beloved siblings: Ken (Lois), Jerry (Phyllis), Bill (June), Shirley, Barb (Bob). He is survived by his cherished sons Ben (Jackie), and Ivan, daughters Miranda and Angela (Billy), and son-in-law Scott (Liz). He was loved by Justin, Tyler, Liam, Paige, Isaiah, Ellianna, Hailey, Lily, Natalie, Bella, and William Charles, all proud to call him Grandpa. His wife Jody will miss him forever, as will his best friends Scott, Steve, Tina, Cathy, Kerry, and mother-in-law Gloria.
To all of his fishing buddies and friends, think of Chuck on beautiful Lake Pend Oreille, that dastardly laugh that followed every setting of the hook, and that sweet scramble for the pole that accompanied every cry of “Fish On!”
On June 21st, we will celebrate “all things Chuck” at the Garfield bay picnic area from 1-5 PM. Bring whatever you need to enjoy the afternoon, especially the stories, pictures, and lies. ? Also, please bring your favorite photo of Chuck “do not forget to make a copy for yourself,” so we can create a memory frame for his loving wife, Jody.
Memorials may be made to Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club-Fish Hatchery at PO Box 1589 Sandpoint ID. 83864.
“The lake is calling, and I must go.”
