Frankie "Blackie" Goforth

December 19, 1936 — June 24, 2014

Franklin D. “Blackie” Goforth passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his home in Noxon, Montana. He was born in Egnar, Colorado in 1936, the son of Eva Sunshine and Houston Archie Goforth. He was preceded in death by his mother, his paternal father his brother Kenneth, and his dad Frank Kardokus. He married Nora Marie Fisher in Sandpoint on December 15, 1976 and she resides at the family home in Noxon. He leaves behind his wife Nora Goforth of Noxon, Mt; one son and seven daughters David Houston (Angie) Goforth of Noxon, MT; Susan Goforth of Cotton, OR; Jeannie Sampson of Noxon MT; Jaqueline Ferguson of Grove, OK; Kathy Johnson of Chugika, AK; Mickey Long, of San Diego, CA; Sharon Johnson Goforth of San Diego, CA; And Diamond Goforth (Arnold Agting) of Noxon, MT; 20 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, Glenda McKinney and family of Toppenish, WA; Larry Kardokus and family of Heron, MT; Bill Kardokus and family of Zillah, WA; Ron Kardokus and family of Zillah, WA; Sue Kardokus of Zillah, WA and Dixie Fisher and family of Troutcreek, MT. Also surviving are many cousins nieces, and nephews. He was known by many as Blackie, a nickname his dad gave him because of his red hair and freckles. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1953 and served 5 years, some of which was spent in the Korean War, then receiving an honorable discharge. He also spent much of his time with the rodeo club as well as the C I D. He worked at the Nevada Test Site, with uranium, for 7 years. He also made a living mining for ore in Colorado. Blackie was employed by Iron Works in Nevada and California. He loved horses and was only 9 years old when he helped his brother Kenneth, who was 11, break their first horse. He enjoyed going to cattle auctions and raised stock throughout the years. He traveled the rodeo circuit for many of his young years. The thrill and excitement he enjoyed complimented his adventurous spirit. His specialty was bull riding, which earns cash prizes, trophies, and belt buckles. Blackie was a happy go lucky character with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many. Graveside services, with military honors, were held at 1:00pm, (Montana time) Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Heron Cemetery, Heron, Montana. A potluck will followed at the Heron Community Center.
