Marlene Faye Mosher

June 5, 1938 — July 23, 2014

Marlene Faye Mosher, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her home in Kootenai, Idaho after a valiant nine-year battle with cancer. Private family services will be held at a later date. Marlene was born on June 5, 1938 in Buffalo, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Aldene Cornella. The family moved to Sandpoint and Kootenai where Marlene attended Kootenai School through 8th grade, and Sandpoint High Schools. She twirled baton and belonged to many 4-H clubs. In 1956, she married Clair E. Mosher, and three children were born to the couple at their home in Newport, Washington. The family moved to California where their fourth child was born. She loved to golf, shoot pool, go sailing, as well as being involved with her children’s activities, including Pop Warner football. She was a member of the American Legion, and she learned to sail a boat to Catalina Island. After her retirement from an investment firm, she returned to Kootenai, Idaho where she resided across the street from her childhood home until her death. She was an active volunteer of the Sandpoint Lions Club and the Senior Citizen Thrift Store until her illness forced her to stop. Marlene played pinochle with several groups, and loved the game and the challenge and the people she played with until she could no longer play. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and missed being with her children and grandchildren after she moved back to Idaho. Her neighbors, Ken and Cis Gors have been God-sends to Marlene during her illness, and she loved them dearly. Marlene is survived by her loving children Clair (Cindy) Mosher of Illinois, and Jerry (Linda) Mosher, Christine (Brad) Baldwin, and Sharon (Tom) Rafferty, of California; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, her two sisters, Sharon (Sherman) Rucker and Janice (Mel) Hansen, both of Sandpoint; and her brother, Dennis Cornella of Kootenai. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary Cornella.
