Erna Louise Britton

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ERNA LOUISE BRITTON AUGUST 1941 - AUGUST 2014 Erna was born in 1941 in Seattle, Washington the first child of Walter and Eleanor Stredicke. Erna was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy early on and not expected to survive through her teen years. Proving the doctors wrong, she graduated fron Kent Meridian High School in 1960 and went on to Beauty School. In 1966 she married Bert Britton and moved with him to Burien, WA where they raised two boys, Kevin and Darin. Erna was a stay at home mom for most of her time as her boys grew up. She was registered with the local school district as a day care provider and contributed to the care of many young lives. As the boys got older she did a short stint as a waitress for Pizza Hut in Burien. The family enjoyed RVing and took many summer trips around the country over the years. Just before Bert retired from the Boeing Fire Department in 1995, she and her husband joined the “Kings and Queens,” a local Good Sam’s RV chapter and continued their RVing addiction. She also kept herself busy with crafts and quilting. In 2003 after visiting relatives in North Idaho they decided to sell the family home in Burien and purchased some acreage in Sagle, Idaho to enjoy the rest of their retirement years. Instead of slowing down and relaxing she upped her activity level by joining at least 3 Quilting Circles, 2 community clubs and keeping up their RVing by joining the “Lake City Too” Good Sam’s. Erna was the eldest of 13 siblings, all born around the Seattle area. She is preceded in death by her father, Walter, sister Suzanna. She is survived by her mother: Eleanor; husband: Bert, sons: Kevin, Darin; grandson Brandon; granddaughter Sheila, and great granddaughters: Victoria and Daniella. Erna had a great loving attitude and fighting nature. She had overcome many obstacles and endured through many trials of life, never giving up and fighting to the end. She died peacefully in her sleep at the hospital surrounded by her family. Erna will be greatly missed by her many friends, family and those that just knew her. We, her family, know that she is finally with Jesus in heaven where her handicaps will no longer hinder her from doing anything. A memorial services will be held on Friday, August 15th at 4PM at the New Song Bible Church, 470250 Highway 95, Sagle, Idaho. A potluck dinner will immediately follow the service.
