Dean Edward Burley, 85, of Sandpoint, long time Athol resident passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Life Care in Sandpoint. There will be a gathering for family and friends on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 at the Athol Community Center from 1:00-6:00PM. Dean was born Jan. 30, 1929 in Ainsworth, Nebraska the son of William and Ortha Burley. He was raised in Nebraska and Montana. He attended first grade in Nebraska then completed his schooling in the Powder River County schools in Montana. Dean was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his time spent as a cowboy and spending time in the woods. He worked as a logger, and professional hunting guide. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and for many years found pleasure in giving the children of Athol wagon rides behind his mules. He is survived by 7 children: Jay Burley, Michael Burley, John Burley, Angie Taylor, Jena Couch, Dean Burley, Jeff Burley; 3 siblings: Neal Burley, Roger Burley, Darlene Kelly; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his ex-wife Eileen Burley. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, and 2 brothers.
