John D. Brownell, Jr. 84, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. Inurnment will be later in Tahoma National Cemetery.
Jack Brownell, aka Gramp Jack, was born October 24, 1923 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He and his wife Jean Kuhn were married in 1945. He was a decorated WWII veteran who proudly served our country on the U.S.S Franks DD 554, remaining an active member of the ship’s company association. After the war, the couple settled down in Bellevue, WA and raised four children.
Jack went to work for Boeing and retired after more than 30 dedicated years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who took pride in everything he did. Jack’s past affiliations were with the Lake City Elks, the Washington Sportsmen’s Council, and the Boeing Amateur Radio Club.
Jack is survived by his sister Margaret, daughter Carol, sons Tom and Jim; 6 grandchildren, Amber & Nick, TC & Alex, and Jim & Larry; and 2 great-grandchildren, Leo & Asa. He was predeceased by his wife Jean and his eldest son Larry.
