Judith Ann McEwan Stone born April 7, 1939 to Keith and Inez McEwan a pioneer family in Priest River, Idaho. Judy was a true North Idaho native living her entire life in Bonner County. She attended grade school and graduated from Priest River High School in 1957. Judy was a lifelong supporter of education and saw to it all three of her children had every opportunity to further their education beyond high school. Thank You, Judy for being a wonderful loving wife, devoted mother and gracious friend to so many who came your way. She was one of God’s special people, who always found time for others. She was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and enjoyed working in the soup kitchen as time permitted. A beautiful girl and popular in high school, she was suited by many; but chose Larry Stone and they were married August 2, 1957, in Priest River. Together they embarked on his career with the U.S. Forest Service and were stationed at the Clark Fork Ranger Station were they raised their 3 children, in the woods amongst the bears. Judy you were adventurous and inquisitive. Your love of nature was as boundless as was your caring for others. There she made many lifelong friends adding to her many childhood friends and classmates of Priest River. After raising her family she entered the work force, working as a motel desk clerk and manager of some Sandpoint motels. There her circle of friends grew Judy was a meticulous house keeper and wonderful cook. Her holiday baking seemed to always bring her children home, no matter how far they had to travel. Judy enjoyed people, flowers, quilting, spring time and pets, as she always had a Siamese Cat at her feet. Her father bought her a Siamese when she was a young girl; and throughout her life she was never long without a devoted black-faced Siamese. After her family, her cat was the next closest thing to her heart. Judy you will be dearly missed by your family and all those who had the good fortune of calling you friend. We will have emptiness where your bright eyes, gentleness and helpful guidance filled us with joy and meaning. You lived life with principals, strength, compassion and humor and we are with you in our thoughts and deeply felt affection. We love you.
