Tom Greger died in his sleep at his home in Sandpoint, Idaho on November 18, 2014.
Tom was born in Iowa, served with the United States Marine Corps, moved to Minnesota and graduated from St. Cloud State University. He then moved to Sandpoint, Idaho where he worked as a partner at Gambles Hardware Store. After the store sold, he bought and operated a beer and wine bar on First Ave. He renamed it “The Pub” “Home of the Fun Lovers.” Tom was there for over twenty-five years. He officiated over numerous good-time events such as Toys for Tots auctions as well as other functions to help people in need. Tom also carried on the tradition of serving the Middle Earth Sandwich menu, which provided customers with a tasty homemade lunch. While running his business, Tom was also active in sports by being a sponsor of a local softball and volleyball team. After the building was sold, Tom closed “The Pub” and moved on to work at Joe’s Philly Cheesesteak Restaurant. He continued to bring a personal touch to the meals served and a friendly welcome to customers. Tom was always up on sports, had an opinion, good or bad, on events.
Tom was a long time member of the Eagles Club. Tom was appreciated by a loyal group of close friends/patrons and their families. Many of the second generation kids referred to him as “Uncle Tom.”
