Fern Jeppesen Mikesell, 88, passed away on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sandpoint Ward.
Family graveside services were held on Tuesday, November 4th in the Pack River Cemetery.
Fern was the 3rd child of Frederick H. and La Vira (Spackman) Jeppesen. She was born on July 25, 1920 in Bancroft, Idaho where she attended school and graduated from North Gem High School. She graduated from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho with an Associate Degree in Education. She taught school for 1 year and then went to Salt Lake City and worked at Remington Arms to replace the men who were drafted during WW II.
She married Edwin Carl Mikesell. They moved to Sandpoint in November 1942 and built, owned, and operated Ed’s Service Station and later Ed’s Motel and Grocery.
She is survived by one son Edwin J. (Sharon) Mikesell of Spokane, WA; three daughters Carlene (Donald) Wallace and Mary Charlotte Moore both of Sandpoint, ID; Carol Cash (Chris) Peine of Sagle, Idaho; one sister Laura Fisher of Spokane, Washington; 10 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren; 3 step sons Robert, Larry, and Jan Mikesell.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Sean Patrick Moore, 1 stepson Don R. Mikesell, two brothers Eliot and Jacob (Jake) Jeppesen; and two sisters Loretta Baugh and Mary Davis.
