Carl (Pinky) Jenkins Jr., 94, passed away quietly on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at his home in Elmira, Idaho.
Carl was born on May 31, 1920 in Brasstown, North Carolina, the son of Carl and Bertha Jenkins, Sr. When he was just a toddler, the family the family moved to Alabama and shortly thereafter to New Mexico; eventually settling down to farm in Elmira, Idaho.
Carl went through boot camp at Farragut Naval Station and then served aboard the USS Biloxi, in the Pacific, during WW II. He was a proud member of the VFW.
He is survived by his son Dave (Kitty) Jenkins of Elmira, Idaho; granddaughter Sara, great granddaughter Olivia and his sister Viola Templeton of Seattle, Washington. He will be missed by grand and great grand nieces and nephews and a myriad of friends and acquaintances, made since coming to Idaho in 1939.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of over 50 years, Elizabeth, his sister Mabel and brothers Jess, Lewis, Bill and Virgil.
As the “unofficial mayor” of Elmira he will be mourned, and missed, by many.
