Wilma Reader was born in 1935, the youngest of the 13 Taylor children, in Thornton, Idaho. She met and married Jack L. Reader her sophomore year and they moved to California where they started a concrete construction business. In 1968 they sold everything, headed north with their two children and purchased the Westmond Store. They were greeted with one of the worst winters in North Idaho history. Eventually she settled in Careywood where she fell in love with the family farm on Crosswhite Road. Later, Wilma obtained her real estate license and went to work for the United Farm Agency where she became broker/owner. After her husband passed, Wilma earned a degree in medical administration, ran flagging crews all over the northwest, worked in the shipyards in Seattle and in the mid-90s retired on Huckleberry Street in Sandpoint. Wilma loved her family and enjoyed the many friends she made through the store and real estate. She had a green thumb and loved the solitude of her farm. Wilma enjoyed music and never turned down a chance to dance.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 12 Taylor siblings and great grandchild, Olivia McElroy. She is survived by her son Doyle Reader (Mary Reader) and daughter Jacque Johnson (Steve Johnson) both of Sandpoint and son Ken Puleo (Alana Puleo) of Papaikou, Hawaii. Her eleven grandchildren are Jason Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Cody Reader, Kasey Johnson, Shaun Reader, Lisa McElroy, Kristin Roeder, Doug Boris, Kendra Puleo, Travis Puleo and Aidan Puleo. Wilma also has 15 great grandchildren.
