Roger "Mike" Barrett

June 1, 1934 — January 4, 2015

Roger D. Barrett, known to many as Mike Barrett, died peacefully in his home on January 4, 2015 in Sagle, ID. He was 80. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on January 10, 2015, at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Barry Johnson from the New Song Bible Church officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mike's life. Mike was born on June 1, 1934 in Little Falls, MN to his parents, Herb and Lillian Barrett. At the age of 16 he joined the U.S. Army on July 13, 1951. Serving with the 6006th Active Service Unit stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. His age was finally discovered and he was honorably discharged on January 24, 1952. Over the years, he worked in many jobs and lived all over the country. His many careers include road construction, oil rigs, forest firefighter, heavy equipment operator, and finally settling and retiring with McFarland Cascade as a crane operator in Sandpoint, ID. The everlasting quest for adventure led him through Minneapolis, MN; Seattle, WA; Grand Forks, ND; Escondido, CA; Henderson, NV; Rock Creek, MT; Superior, MT; and Sandpoint, ID. A man of many talents, Mike enjoyed multiple activities and hobbies in life. His love of animals, Native American Culture, boxing, and women were his strongest passions. Throughout his life, he always had a desire to be a rancher and cowboy, never staying in one location to hang his hat long enough to call it home. Mike is survived by his children, Rose Firman of Escondido, CA; Debra Beemen of Buckley, WA; Matthew Barrett of Longview, WA; and Joseph Barrett of Battle Ground, WA; his grandchildren Corey Firman of Virginia Beach, VA; Rocky Beemen Jr. of Orting, WA; and Maggie Barrett of Battle Ground, WA; and his great grandchild Caelan Firman of Virginia Beach, VA. His family and friends will always remember him as "a rolling stone, gathers no moss."
