Frederick Philip Ebner, 72, of Sandpoint passed away on Sunday January 11, 2015 from complications of pancreatic cancer.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later time. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Fred was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 28, 1942. He attended high school in Dundalk, Maryland and went on a receive a bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. After receiving his bachelor’s degree Fred enlisted in the Army as a lieutenant and served in Vietnam, spending one year in Southeast Asia, reaching the rank of Captain.
Following his discharge he returned to Maryland working as a mechanical contractor. He moved to northern California and took a position as a civil engineer being instrumental in the building of Foster City, California. He moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1979. Fred worked as a civil engineer in Sandpoint and surrounding areas. He also built the Selkirk Office building and a beautiful home on Baldy Road.
Fred enjoyed the outdoors including camping, hiking, and fishing in the Sandpoint area. He loved the beauty of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille.
His surviving family members include: Charles R. Ebner of Baltimore, MD, and Gerald W. Ebner of Ownesville, MD. He is also survived by his longtime partner of 27 years, Dan Miller of Sandpoint, Idaho. He was preceded in death by is father Frank R. Ebner, his mother Mary Ebner and his sister Darlene A. Rosa.
