Edward O. Swan, who so loved life, passed away on November 15th, at the age of 68.
A much loved son, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, husband and friend, he will be sorely missed.
Ed always loved a bargain-garage sales and junk yards, and was a true E-Bay junkie. For the past several years he had found a perfect work companion and friend named Bear. Many hours were spent working in his shop together.
Ed could make or fix almost anything and he loved to make new things from old, broken ones. If something stumped Ed, he would read about it until he had it figured out. He was always interested in learning more-truly a life long student.
Trying to fix himself was the ultimate test-he would have succeeded if he had only had more time.
Ed’s warm heart, generous nature and sense of humor touched everyone he met.
A big, strong man, Ed loved everything he did: being a Seattle Fire Fighter, rebuilding old cars and houses, snorkeling in Hawaii, gourmet cooking and his greatest passion-downhill skiing.
Ed is survived by Gail, his best friend, soul mate and loving wife of 32 years. Also by his mother, Elaine Brittain, a daughter, Barbara (Ed Holm), a son, Edward, all of Washington. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 brothers, many nieces and nephews and other family members.
A gathering will be held later so that family and friends can come together to celebrate Ed’s life and to say farewell.
He is not so far from us,
We’re not so far apart;
Although he had to leave,
He’s right here in our hearts.
When we feel we miss him most,
As years go drifting by,
Our memories will prove to us,
The bond we share will never die.
When tomorrow starts without him,
And we feel we can’t go on,
We’ll remember all the special times,
Our eternal bond.
He may have left us far too soon,
But he didn’t leave alone;
He had us all in his heart,
On his final journey home.
