Dusty Roop, 76, passed away, at his home, in Cocolalla, Idaho
Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Thursday, March 26th, in the Westmond Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Jeff Marks will be conducting with interment in the Westmond Cemetery.
Dusty was born on November 14, 1938 in Kettleman City, California the son of Ermer and Hazel Roop. He attended schools in Santa Cruz, California graduating from high school in 1956. He served with the US Navy from 1956 until 1960 on a minesweeper. He later worked, as a merchant marine, in SE Asia.
On May 5, 1966 he married Heidi Custer in Santa Cruz, California. They moved to North Idaho in 1968, returning to Santa Cruz, California in 1984 and then back to Cocolalla, Idaho in 1997. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Dusty enjoyed woodworking and reading.
He is survived by his children Yvonne Wood in Santa Cruz, California; Donel (Anna) Roop in Spokane, Washington; Cindy (Mike) Hook in Sandpoint, Idaho; Jason (Cathy) Roop Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Tamara (Ron) Wilson in Hauser, Idaho numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his mother Hazel Roop in Sandpoint, Idaho. Also surviving are three brothers Robert “Dink” (Sue) Roop in Cocolalla, Idaho; Jerry L. (Barbara) Roop in Naples, Idaho; Frank (Patty) Roop in Cocolalla, Idaho; his sister Patricia (Bill) Lawrence in Elk, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son Edward.
