Kelli Dawn Burt, 54, of Sandpoint, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2015 at Bonner General Hospital. She joined Jesus after a battling a brief, but difficult battle with liver cancer. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 31st at 11:00am at the First Lutheran Church. Pastor Steve Neuder & Pastor Steve Ennis will be officiating. An internment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, followed by a reception back at the church.
Kelli was born in Sandpoint, at Bonner General Hospital on May 12, 1960 to Robert and Alma Becker (Smith). Growing up in Dover with her brother Mitch, Kelli loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed riding her horse, Bucky, bareback.
Her family moved to Alaska, where she attended high school for a short time, but returned to her hometown for her senior year to graduate from Sandpoint High School in 1979.
She met the love of her life, Doug Burt, while working as a waitress at the Donkey Jaw. They were married at the First Lutheran Church in June of 1985 and went on to have 2 children, Kendal Roos and Tyler Burt. Throughout the years Doug and Kelli loved and supported one another immensely.
Kelli worked for many years as the manager of the Sandpoint Elks Lodge where she made many lifelong friends.
Kelli was an amazing mother who raised her children in Sandpoint, where they could take full advantage of all the things this area provided, whether it was boating on Lake Pend Oreille or competing to find the most morel mushrooms. Kelli also enjoyed working in her garden, picking huckleberries, and spending time with friends.
The last years of her life, she spent much of her time caring for her dad, Bob, who passed away in October 2014.
Despite facing a number of obstacles throughout her life, Kelli was always determined to continue doing the things she enjoyed. She had continuous support from many wonderful friends and family who will always remember her for having an enormous heart and a beautiful smile.
She is survived by her husband Doug, brother Mitch (Marilyn) Becker, daughter Kendal (Dan) Roos, In-Laws Walter and Mae Burt, sister in law Linda (Russell) Lacy and, brother-in-law Dan (Jan) Burt, nephews Charlie, Chris, Jeff, Travis, Josh, Jake, Marcus and Nieces Stephanie, Natalie, and Tammy.
She is preceded in death by parents Robert and Alma Becker, son Tyler Burt.
