Donald Charles Faubion
1940-2008
Don was born and raised in southern California, graduated from La Puente high school in 1957, and attended Whittier College where he earned a 4-year degree in Geology. He joined the army and served as a terrain analyst in Germany where he was celebrated as an expert rifleman.
Upon his return to the United States, he married and started a family. He worked with Texaco for a few years and later accepted a job with Betz Chemical Company. His work in the specialty chemical field took him all over the world and he had the opportunity to visit many exotic places.
Don had a great love for the outdoors and was especially fond of backpacking, skiing, cycling, and fishing. He spent many vacations fishing with family and friends, cycling through Yellowstone, and adventuring in the great outdoors.
He retired in 1998 and promptly moved to Northern Idaho. He had traveled to many places in his life, but felt the northwestern United States was the best place on Earth. He spent his retired days fishing, baiting bears, taking long ATV rides, looking for satellites from his deck, and cooking amazing meals for friends and family. His life was quite an adventure and he lived it well. He saw many places and made many friends; the memories of good times will serve as a lasting legacy.
A celebration of his life will take place at the Yates Chapel in Hayden Lake, Idaho on December 30th, at 2:00 p.m. Charitable donation can be made to The Disabled American Veterans or the Salvation Army.
