Sandpoint’s beloved Helen Rose Manson, 90, of Sandpoint passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Bonner General Hospital.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Helen was born September 9, 1924 in Fresno, CA the daughter of Vernon and Rosa Bertken. She was raised and attended schools in Fresno and graduated Roosevelt High in 1942. Helen married Peter Manson on February 14, 1946.
She attended Fresno City College and Fresno State where she graduated and later attained her Master’s degree in 1961. She was a special education teacher in Visalia, CA for 25 years until her retirement. After her retirement she moved to Aptos, CA in 1986. In 2006 she moved to Sandpoint where she has since resided.
Helen was a master duplicate bridge player and a master gardener in both California and Idaho. She hosted a Home and Garden Tour in 2010 and was scheduled to do so again on July 10, 2015. Because of her love of gardening and the beauty of her gardens several weddings were held at her home.
She is survived by 4 children: Margaret (Steve) Ruby of Sandpoint, ID, Susan (Eddie) Weigant of Fresno, CA, Guy (Becky) Manson of Careywood, ID, Sara (Royce) Osborn of Sun Lakes, AZ; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, her parents and 1 sister Jane Holland.
Helen was fun, energetic, and loving, she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched!
