Margaret I "Maggie" Becker

Margaret I. “Maggie” Becker, 72, passed away in Sandpoint on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Life Care. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00AM, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Coffel’s Funeral Chapel. Maggie was born Aug. 2, 1942 in Bridgewater, MA the daughter of Michael and Irene McDonnell. She moved to Long Beach, CA where she graduated from high school. She also attended community college there. She moved to Sandpoint in 1964 where she worked with Bud Benoit at the Bootery. On June 3, 1967 she married Donald Becker in Sandpoint. Maggie owned and operated Dover Day Care in the mid 1980’s and continued to do so until her retirement in 2009. Maggie was an active member of her community having served on the Dover City Council from 1978-2011, was involved with the Dover Girls and served with Make a Wish Foundation. She enjoyed playing pinochle, spending time with family and friends. In addition to her husband Donald of Dover she is survived by 3 children: Marcia (Dennis) Gillmer of Sagle, Donald (Connie) Becker of Brewster, WA, Annette (David) Oller of Danville, CA; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother: Jack (Pat) McDonnell of Sandpoint; and 1 sister: Mary Ann Couch of CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Francis, and her daughter Shannon Kingsley.
