Robert E. "Bob" Day-Phalen, 67, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 5, 2015.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 12th, from 4pm until 6pm in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, June 13th in the Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Chad Wilks will be officiating. Bob will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Bob was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 1, 1948 the son of Carl and Wilma Phalen. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1965. He completed 17 years of active duty and three years as a reserve before retiring from the military. In 1982, he went to work on the Hanford site located in Tri-Cities, WA. While working, he got his Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Technology and later finished his Master’s in Education.
He met his wife, Cynthia Day, while they were both working at the Washington Public Power Supply System. They were married on November 25, 1983, and they joined their two families. Bob and Cynthia worked and lived in the Tri-Cities area before moving to Sandpoint, Idaho in August of 2014 to be closer to family.
Bob was a professional bowler, and bowled several 300 games, was passionate about his golf game and loved to watch his grandchildren’s sporting events. Family played a major role in his life.
He loved God, his country and his family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years Cynthia Day-Phalen; his children Daniel (Angie) Phalen of Benton City, WA, Karmen Phalen of Pocatello, ID, JoLynn Bennett of Sandpoint, ID, and Michael (Ronica) Bishop of West Richland, WA; his 13 grandchildren Kayla, Meaghan and Matthew Phalen; Michael and Brandon Phalen; KelliJo, Blaine and Koen Bennett; and William, Emily, Michael, John and Judah Bishop; his sister Carolyn (Bob) Sares of Florida; and his parents-in-law Roy and Sammie Day of Bonners Ferry, ID.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Phyllis, two daughters Kristina and Katherine, and his son-in-law Kevin Bennett.
