Lyn Marie Powers

Lyn Marie Powers, 66, passed away after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at her home in Sagle, Idaho. Services will be held later in the month in Medford, Oregon. Lyn was born on February 22, 1949 in Columbus, Nebraska the daughter of Wendell and Rachel McCormick. Lyn attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California graduating in 1967. After graduation she would go to work for a telephone company as a clerk. While on a ski trip to Aspen, Colorado she would meet John Powers and she would never return to Southern California. The two would later marry on December 21, 1978. They lived in Aspen and she worked as a clerk for some local banks and the telephone companies. After John retired in 1998, they would move to the Sandpoint area buying a house in Garfield Bay. They lived in Garfield Bay for five years before buying their home on Frye Creek. Lyn loved to garden, read, ski and go scuba diving. Lyn is survived by her husband of 36 years John Powers; her daughter Michele LaRosa of Long Beach, CA; her parents Wendell and Rachel McCormick of Medford, OR; her two sisters Theresa Smith of Bend, OR, and Patricia McEwen of Medford, OR; one brother Charles McCormick of Salton Sea, CA; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Samantha LaRosa who passed away from breast cancer. Heaven has become a better place as of this day.
