Gregory "Greg" Bain passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 17th 2015 in Clark Fork, Idaho at the age of 64.
Greg is survived by his wife LaDonna Bain, and children, Leah Bain (and her Fiancee Joe Bennett) and Gaylon Bain (and his Fiancee Angela Evans), and Grandchildren Blaire Evans and Alexandre Bain. He is preceded in death by his father Andrew Bain, Mother Ruth Bain, Brother Andy Bain, and Sister Claire Bain, and Jackson his Service Dog.
Greg was born on August 14th, 1950 in Edgewater, New Jersey to Andrew and Ruth Bain. He graduated from Leonia High School in 1968. He married Renita Zerbes, in 1978 and welcomed daughter Leah Bain into the world. In 1985, Greg married the love of his life, soulmate, and best friend LaDonna Bain and became a Father to Son Gaylon Bain.
Greg was one of the proud attendees at the original Woodstock, and loved music. A true Hippie, he even grew his hair out during the last few years of his life. Greg was many things throughout his life – a Lifeguard, exceptional swimmer, a member of the boy scouts and later a scout troop leader, and bartender at the Middle Earth Tavern in Sandpoint.
Greg was a great father, and taught his children in more aspects of life than can be named; his love, wit, sense of humor and compassion live on in his children. Even when tested, Greg was always there to support them both throughout their lives. 13 years ago, Greg suffered a massive stroke that paralyzed the left side of his body, however through tremendous will, strength and unending patience, he lived and loved each moment he was granted until the end. His Wife LaDonna kept him going and was the greatest caretaker he could’ve asked for, and their love for each other would restore anyone’s faith in the belief of true love. His resolve to live is an inspiration to us all; he taught us much, sometimes with just a look. He gave joy to everyone he encountered, and never once complained throughout it all.
Greg was also an accomplished Steamfitter and took great pride in his skill, working in New York City on the world trade center towers in the 80s, and the Met Life Building in the 90s among others. Greg took immense pride in his craft as a Steamfitter and tradesman, and truly loved what he did. He was a kind, witty, intelligent, and caring individual who loved the world and who was passionate, and shared that with everyone he ever met. Greg was a man of great strength, integrity, character, and his two most enduring qualities, his capacity for love and amazing sense of humor. He was an active and dedicated member of the Steamfitters Local Union 638.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday June 20th from 2:00-4:00pm at his family home located at 60191 hwy 200 Clark Fork ID 83811. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Greg's life.
