Robert Leroy “Bob” Story was born on Jan. 23, 1940, and entered into the arms of Jesus at the age of 75 in his home in Sagle, Idaho, on July 10, 2015.
A celebration of Bob's life will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hills Church.
“Larger than Life” are words used to describe Bob; from his 6-foot, 4-inch broad-shouldered stature to his bold personality: everything he did, he did BIG.
Bob started his business, S&S Construction, by bartering for a piece of land in Naples, Idaho, where he built his family's first home in 1980. Since then, he has built dozens of custom homes in his 38 years in Sandpoint, Idaho. Many of them are located on Wooded Acres Drive, nicknamed “Story Row.”
As great as he was at building a house, Bob was even better at building a “home” for his wife and daughter. In 1970, Bob met his feisty, red-headed bride of over 40 years, Patricia Gale (Hiser), in Lake Tahoe, Calif. After their daughter Nicole was born, they moved to Sandpoint in 1977 to make a better life together. On top of all their memories of fishing together, boating, snowmobiling, and living in “the shack” while their house was being built, they rarely left home without praying together. Bob always said, “A family that prays together, stays together.”
Out of all of Bob's accomplishments, his main desire was that every person knew about Jesus. Many lives were changed by his boldness in sharing his faith. It went something like this, “Hey Sucker (an endearing name he called his friends), you'd better get your butt in church and start putting Jesus first!” Not only did Bob love big, preach big, and work big, he also sang big (leading worship in church for many years), prayed big, gave big, encouraged big, and fished big (which also means he exaggerated big)!
Bob's legacy will be continued on by his wife, Pat; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Eric Rust; his grandkids, who will especially miss his dance moves, Courtney, Mitchell, and Madelyn; his twin brother, David and Dea Story; his nephew and family, Nate, Amanda, and Caleb Story; and many more family and friends whom he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to Celebrate Life or Bonner General Hospice.
