Louise Kay Heckroth

January 22, 1951 — July 12, 2015

Louise Kay Heckroth, 64, of Sandpoint passed away on Sunday morning, July 12, 2015. Her Spirit Travels On… A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at the Sandpoint Elks Golf Course, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 1:00PM. Louise Heckroth (Aka: Weezy, Weezer, Luwegie, Squeezer, and Sunshine just to name a few) was born January 22, 1951 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Hugh and Thelma Wygmans. Her wonderfully free spirit and adventurous nature carried her across the country from coast to coast. On one of these fine adventures she met the love of her life, her soul mate and best friend, Curtis Heckroth. They were married on February 26, 1982 and they bought property outside Sandpoint, Idaho. Louise worked nine seasons for the Elks Golf Course, a couple of years at the Hide-Away Lounge, The Pub, The Tam O’Shanter and Glahe and Associates. Friendships and family were number one to Louise. She tried to never miss a birthday, holiday, or special event in the lives of those she cared about. She had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh when you really needed to laugh, or a hug and shoulder when you needed to cry. After her mother, Thelma, suffered a stroke, Louise moved to Florida and took care of her for six years. They were the original “Thelma and Louise” team. Louise was extraordinarily creative. Her home and her garden are works of artistry and imagination. Louise liked to work in her garden, her yard, bake, cook, and eat! She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Curt Heckroth; her daughter: Jennifer Schlicht and her husband, Michael; two grandchildren, Ian Knapp and Zoey Knapp; and one great grandchild Sterling Tompkins. Weezy could really make you laugh…she will be missed.
