Lowell Moore, 82, of Sagle, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his home.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00AM, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Pack River Cemetery, with Rev. Ken Smith, pastor of Sandpoint First Baptist Church, officiating.
Lowell was born July 3, 1933 in Blue, Oklahoma to parents who were migrant farm workers during the dust bowl and thus he traveled throughout the country working in the fields. At the age of 16 he misrepresented his age to get into the military and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Throughout his service he was a mechanic, a trade he later used in civilian life.
After his discharge he attended mechanic school on the GI Bill in Amarillo, TX and lived in numerous places throughout the country. He spent many years in Southern California and in 1972 settled in Bakersfield where he owned his own shop for many years. In 2008 he moved to Idaho, later moving to Missouri in 2010 and came back to Sagle with his son and daughter-in-law in May of 2015.
Lowell was a lifetime member of both the VFW and the DAV, and was currently attending Sandpoint First Baptist Church.
He is survived by 3 children: Donald Wayne (Phyllis) Moore of Sagle, Loraine Long of Bonners Ferry, ID, Harvey Ray (Nancy) Moore of Copalis Beach, WA; 1 brother: Henry Blake (Shirley) Moore of Copperopolis, CA; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Lee Moore and 2 brothers, Billy Joe Moore and James Charles Moore.
Lowell was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
The family suggests memorials be given in Lowell’s name to a charity of donor’s choice.
