Deanna Jane Johnston

Deanna Jane Johnston, 72, of Coeur d’ Alene passed away on July 23, 2015 in Hospice House of North Idaho. Private family services will be held at a later time. She was born March 16, 1943 in Louisiana, Missouri the daughter of William and Mamie Ewing. She was raised and attended schools in Missouri and Illinois. She married Donald L. Johnston on Dec. 29, 1960 in Rock Island, IL. They moved to Clagstone area of Idaho in 1973 where she has since resided. When she was in her 30’s she returned to school and graduated from Priest River High School. Deanna was a gifted quilter and made many treasured quilts for her family members. She was also a published author of a children’s book. She is survived by 3 children: Dianna (John) Grogg of Pinehurst, ID, Donovan Johnston of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, Dawn Renee (Daniel) Hafner of Athol, ID, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 4 siblings: Tom Ewing of Illinois, Art Ewing of Alabama, Marsha Knotting of Missouri and Clay Ewing of Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
