Wallace J. “Wally” Miller passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, August 22nd, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jon Pomeroy, Sandpoint Church of God, will be officiating. A potluck reception will follow in the Oden Hall.
Wally was born in Spearfish, South Dakota on May 10, 1934 and moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho as a child. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1952 and then trained, as a welder, at Kaiser Aluminum in the Spokane Valley. In 1961 he went to work, as a pipe welder, for Pacific Gas Transmission. In 1996, after 35 years, he retired as a mechanic/welder from the company.
On June 19, 1955 he and Jacqueline Schroder were married in Sandpoint, Idaho. They lived on the Kootenai Cutoff Road and in retirement built his home on Ponder Point. Wally was a member of BPOE #1376 where he played golf daily. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and metal detecting.
He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Jackie Miller in Sandpoint; 3 sons Mike Miller in Payette, ID; Scott (Terry) Miller in Sandpoint, ID; Dan (Wendy) Miller in Aloha, OR; numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Betty Smith in Seattle, WA; Kathy (Larry) Hensley in Spokane, WA; his cousin Ed (Loretta) Orr in Green Acres, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Daybreak Center for help with the care of Alzheimer’s patients, in memory of Wally Miller.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at both the Hearthstone Village and at Valley Vista for the care he received.
