Lyle R. Leen

Lyle Roger Leen, 76, passed away at his home, in Laclede, on Wednesday September 9, 2015. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 in the Laclede Community Church. Pastor Dan Moore will be officiating and a potluck will follow the service. Lyle was born on July 6, 1939 in Roseau, MN, the son of Arthur and Agnes (Randklev) Leen. At the age of 7 he moved, with his family, to the Sandpoint area and attended Bonner County Schools. On May 9, 1959 he married Gayle Stevens in Sandpoint, Idaho. He served with the US Army Reserves and completed his military obligation on Aug. 28, 1962. He had worked for the US Forest Service and as a hod carrier for the Moore Brothers Construction Company. He worked for Hedlund Lumber Company, Louisiana Pacific Sawmill, Bonners Ferry Sawmill, and at the Chilco mill as a head saw filer retiring in 2002. Lyle enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family. He also liked to hike in the Pack River, Trestle Creek and Trout Creek drain-ages. In retirement he was able to travel to Alaska and Mazatlán, Mexico. Lyle is survived by his son Wayne Leen in Bonners Ferry, Idaho; his daughter Brenda Rawley in Laclede, ID; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Ina Lowman of Sandpoint, Idaho Ruth Hirst of Coeur d’Alene, ID, and Vonnie Short of Rupert, ID and his brother Kenneth Leen of Sagle, Idaho. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gayle, his daughter Carrie Pound, 2 granddaughters Amber and Autumn, and four brothers Glen, Art, Don and Roy.
