Dean T. Caldwell, 78, passed away, at his home in Heron, MT; on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.
Dean was born on August 27, 1937 in Nampa, Idaho and moved to Buhl, Idaho as a child. He was raised on the Rocking Horse Ranch, an Arabian horse ranch in Salmon, Idaho and graduated from high school in Buhl, Idaho in 1958. He joined the US Air force in 1958, serving for 20 years during the Vietnam conflict, retiring in 1978. In 1978 he moved to Sandpoint, Idaho and went to work for Murphy’s Saw Shop. He opened R and H Saw Shop in 1983, retiring, again, in 1998 and moving to Heron, Montana.
He married Carole McCoy on June 22, 1960 in Twin Falls, Idaho, celebrating 55 years of marriage in June of this year.
In Heron he built his “retirement” log home and made custom knives. He enjoyed his family, camping and hunting in the area. He was a member of the Heron United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
Dean is survived by his wife Carole in Heron, MT; three children Melanie (Doug) Schilling in Moose Pass, AK; Kelly A (David) Buzzelli in Orting, WA; Bradford (Renea) Caldwell in Bucyrus, MO; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters Dian Hill in Ogden, UT and Tanya Edson in Castleford, ID; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
