Dorothy M. Rosenberger, 94, of Sandpoint passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in Sandpoint.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Paul Graves will be officiating with interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on July 4, 1921 in Ashland, Oregon the daughter of John and Bessie McKenzie. In 1923 she moved to Medford, Oregon where she graduated from high school. On November 23, 1937 she married Norm Rosenberger, in Medford. She lived in Southern Oregon and Northern California prior to moving to Sandpoint in 1963.
Norm and Dorothy operated the Maverick Self Service Station in Ponderay for 10 years and in her later years she continued working part time at the station meeting, and making, many new friends. She later worked in the Bonner County Treasurer’s office, as the senior deputy, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Sandpoint United Methodist Church and a former Girl Scout leader. In retirement she was able to travel to Europe and enjoyed visiting England and Scotland.
Dorothy enjoyed life, camping, hunting and just being in the great outdoors. She loved her family very much and enjoyed, and was proud of, each and every one of her grandchildren. She was always ready for a good game of cards.
She is survived by 6 children Norm Rosenberger, Jr. in Thailand; Dorothy Sanders in Everett, WA; Mary Anne Cavallero in Sandpoint; Patricia Kay in Fremont, CA; Charlotte (Richard) Carvalho in Sandpoint; and Michael Rosenberger in Sandpoint. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and numerous great great great grandchildren. Her sister Mildred Elder survives in Corvallis, Oregon. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norm in 1994, one sister, an infant daughter and two granddaughters Julie Ann and Carolee.
