John Wallace, 75, of Careywood, passed away suddenly on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM, Monday Nov. 9, 2015 at Coffelt Funeral Service. Interment with military rites will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
John was born March 26, 1940 in Sandpoint, Idaho the son of George and Marie Wallace. He attended schools in Sandpoint and western Washington when he spent 5 years with his aunt and uncle in Chimacum, WA. He graduated Sandpoint High School. He then attended Spokane Community College and learned the auto body trade. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 3 years part of which was spent in Vietnam. In 1966 he married the love of his life Claire Kannady in Sandpoint.
Following his discharge in 1965 he returned to Sandpoint where he went to work for Sandpoint Motors. Following the death of his father he purchased the family dairy farm. They had 140 Holstein cows 70 of which they milked twice a day for the next 20 years. He later retired and began raising beef cattle and logging.
John and Claire enjoyed traveling and spent a number of years wintering in Arizona.
John is survived by his wife Claire Wallace of Careywood, 2 sons: Ryan Wallace of Careywood, Wayne (Devan) Wallace of Coeur d’ Alene; 1 granddaughter: Josey Wallace of Careywood; and by 1 sister: Donna Haynes of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Richard Wallace.
