Mary Ellen Mitchell, 92, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 pm, on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church with Pastor Nolan Redman officiating.
Mary Ellen Bailie was born June 16, 1923 in Santa Ana, California to William and Cecilia Kinahan Bailie.
After graduating from Garden Grove High School, she attended Santa Ana Junior College. She married Jacques Mitchell, who was in the Marine Corps. She went with him to duty stations in Lakehurst, New Jersey, Camp Pendleton, Ca., El Toro, Ca., Konehoe, Hawaii, and Cherry Point, NC.
Jacques was sent to Japan, while they were stationed in Cherry Point, NC.
They returned to Santa Ana, California, and attended St. Anselm’s in Garden Grove. While there she was a driver for the cancer society.
In 1984, they moved to Emmett, Id. where they were active in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Mary was a member of the Alter Guild and served on the vestry and was a delegate to the Episcopal Convention. At this time, she became a Charter Member of PEO Chapter CE in Emmett, ID
In 2008, after an illness, she moved to Falls Church, Virginia to live with her daughter.
Following her daughter’s retirement, they moved to Dover, Id. She attended Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Dover, Id.
She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and traveling.
She is survived by daughter Michele, sister Agnes Smith of Emmett, id. And brother Will Bailie and sister-in-law MaryAnn, as well as six nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews.
