Gene W. Patterson, 95, former Sandpoint resident, passed away in Spokane, Washington on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015.Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am, Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Chuck Wigton, Post Falls, will be officiating with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Gene was born on August 30, 1920 in Spokane, Washington the son of John and Alma Patterson. He attended local schools, graduating from Central Valley High School in 1938 and then attending college in Linfield, Oregon. During WW II he served with the US Army Air Corps until 1946 and then being transferred to the Air National Guard at Geiger Field in Spokane, Washington. During the Korean conflict he would be recalled to active duty, serving with the US Air Force in England.He lived in the Spokane Valley area working for the Modern Electric Water Company while building his house in Opportunity. He and Ruby were married on February 1, 1958 in Sandpoint, Idaho prior to moving to the Los Angeles area where Gene continued his computer training. He moved to Santa Barbara, CA where he became the Director of Data Processing for the Santa Barbara City Schools; retiring in 1978 and moving to the Sandpoint area.
