Steven Gilbert Martin

September 25, 1953 — December 28, 2015

Steven Gilbert Martin, 62, passed away in his home in Sagle, Idaho on Monday, December 28th, 2015. Steve was born on September 25, 1953 in California son of Gill and Alberta (Archer) Martin. He moved to Idaho in 1976 to settle down and have a family. He worked as a manager at our local Safeway store. He took pride in being a hard worker no matter what job he was doing. He was an avid outdoorsman and a proud American. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a great appreciation for nature. He shared a passion for animals and the outdoors with many people around him especially his son. He liked his solitude in the country where he built his log home by hand with timbers from his land. He loved his property and all the beauty on and around his 40 acres. He liked classic cars and trucks and often told stories about cars he owned when he was younger. He enjoyed working on vehicles and various projects in his shop. He was very intelligent and could figure out a solution to any problem. He passed that wisdom and ingenuity on to his son and many others around him. He was a humorous guy and told many great stories. He enjoyed the simple things in life like feeding the deer and other animals on his property. He had an immense love for his dogs and took very good care of them. Steve liked helping people and was an honest and giving man. Steve took pride in being honest and outspoken in his views and opinions, sometimes to a fault; you got what you saw with him. He was a proud supporter of the Second Amendment. He loved his children and was a proud grandfather. He taught his son how to fix cars, hunt, fish, and appreciate nature. He is survived by his children Clint Martin, Michele Peratos, Rebekah Hunt, Brooke Decker; his grandchildren: Jaden and Grace Peratos, and Lauren and Ethan Hunt; his sister: Barbara Gasman and numerous step siblings. He was preceded in death by his father Gilbert Martin and step mother Ann Martin. “We will always carry his memory in our hearts.”
