On Jan 2, 2016, Doug peacefully left this world in his sleep to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Doug was born May 2, 1974 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Kenneth D. Johnson and Gloria A. Johnson. He grew up in Sandpoint, graduating from SHS lettering in football, track, wrestling, soccer and basketball. Doug remained in the Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene area his entire life where he continued his love of sports and appreciation of nature. During these years he worked at The Ski Shack (Hayden Lake), Fifth Ave Bike & Board (Sandpoint), Two Wheel Transit (Spokane), Vertical Earth (Coeur d’ Alene) and Tri-State Outfitters (Hayden) where he met so many people who became friends and touched his life.
Doug had a heart bigger than the great outdoors which he loved so much. However, his greatest love in life were his four children, Jaelen, Kessler, Jenacey and Kourtni, whom he cherished and who brought him joy every day.
Mourning his loss but celebrating his life are his father, Ken Johnson, stepmother, Barbara Johnson, siblings, Debbie Johnson (Kimi-Sue), Donna Brooks Johnson, Dianne Brauer (Ted), Vanessa, Jessica and William Johnson, Jack Brooks (Debra), Denise Brooks Tritt (Jeff), Jill Brooks Blackman (Jerry). Doug’s children, Jaelen, Kessler, Jenacey, and Kourtni, their mother, Karen Lorbecki, nephews, Flynn Roundy (Melissa), Zak Townsend Bernstein-Johnson, Cody and Riley Brauer, nieces, Gretchen Shorten (Roger), Lindsay Evans (Nate), Madisyn Brauer, lifelong friend Tyson Glahe, friend and mentor Lyle Corey, special friend Darnell Allen and numerous other loved family members and friends. Doug was greeted in heaven by his mother, Gloria Brooks, stepfather Jack Brooks, and grandparents, Pops & Granny, and Nana & Papa.
Memorial service is planned for 11 am on Saturday, Jan. 16th at Hickory St. Baptist Church, 1203 Hickory St, Sandpoint. Potluck Celebration of Life will follow at VFW Hall, 1325 Pine St, Sandpoint.
