Hazel Elaine Brown

March 5, 1927 — January 31, 2016

Hazel Elaine “Shawgo” Brown passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, January 31, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. Memorial graveside services will be conducted 10:00AM, Friday, April 29, 2016 in Pinecrest Memorial Park. There will be no reception following the service. Elaine (which she preferred to go by), was born March 5, 1927 to Herbert Shawgo and Hazel “Lamb” Shawgo in Priest River, Idaho. She had 5 siblings, her brother Alfred Shawgo and sisters Patricia “Pat” Whittaker, Roberta (Bobbi) Shawgo, Mary Jane West, and Shirley Kimmons. Elaine married Beauford “Boots” Brown. They had 5 children: Larry (Diane) Brown in Eugene, OR, Terry (Shirley) Brown in Council Hill, OK, Jane (Macy) Thompson in Snohomish, WA, Karen Daniels in Sandpoint, ID, and Donna Ferguson in Fairbanks, AK. Elaine has 16 grandkids, 30 great grandkids, and 4 great great grandkids. Elaine graduated Priest River High School where she played on the basketball team and was a cheerleader. Elaine spent her days on the lake with her husband Beauford “Boots” fishing and cruising. They spent many days with friends and family at Garfield Bay, Kilroy Bay, Canada and Koocanusa Lake. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds in which she took great pride. Elaine retired at Fournier’s Kootenai Cut Shop. She had a wonderful relationship with her children and grandkids. She enjoyed many holidays, birthdays, family weddings and adventurous trips. Elaine shall live on through her children and grandkids with the special relationship she had with each individual person, and the memories they created together. Elaine lived a happy and full life surrounded by a lot of love.
