Jean Rupp Harris, 89, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 13, 2106 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dave Elliott of Mountain Springs Church officiating.
Jean Marie Rupp Harris, born in Ohio on May 4, 1926 was the daughter of the Rev. Monroe J. Rupp and Mabel Haines Rupp. She lived in a Christian home. She had five siblings. Margaret Rupp (deceased), Monroe H. Rupp, Eleanor Rupp, Mary McClure, and Mabel Gordon.
Jean earned her M. Ed at New York University, and later met her husband Oliver at Nyack College. They were married in 1954. Jean served as a missionary and teacher in Quito Ecuador for two years then returned to New York State. Their first child was born in Corning when Oliver moved the family to California in 1963. They had another daughter, and Jean enjoyed staying at home with the girls, hosting Women’s’ Heart to Heart meetings, teaching Sunday School and playing the organ and piano for Church. She began teaching English as a second language to Asians and began an Asian Bible Study. Jean was certified in Grapho-analysis and counseling. She liked to Bible verses to music. Her tune for 2 Cor. 4:17-18 was sung to Jean during her last breath, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
Jean is survivied by her daughters, Janet Cherry (Mark), and Pamela Fisher (Scott) and eight grandchildren Melissa Sturni (Chris), David Cherry (Ashlie), Jonathan, Benjamin, Bethany and Andrew Cherry; Connor Fisher and Olivia Fisher and two great-grandchildren Maggie and Katie Cherry.
