Raymond G. Phelps, 78, of Sagle passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Bonner General Hospital.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00AM, Saturday, February 13, 2016 at New Song Bible Church in Sagle, with Pastor Barry Johnson, officiating.
Ray was born July 20, 1937 in Auburn, WA the son of James and MyFanwy Phelps. He lived in the Stampede Pass area of western Washington, moving with his family to Yakima in 1950. He finished his schooling there. He worked for a time at Delmonte, later working for Boise Cascade for 37 years in Yakima.
In 1991 he married Linda Wiley and in 2002 they moved to Sagle, Idaho where they were members of New Song Bible Church. Ray enjoyed writing, was an electronics buff and railroad buff. There was nothing about trains he didn’t know. He lived right next to the tracks in Sagle where the roaring of the trains would shake his home. On one occasion the engineer of the train stopped next to his home, got off the train and presented him with a plaque. He knew all the engineers and track crews.
Ray is survived by his wife: Linda Phelps of Sagle; 1 brother: Lanny (Carolyn) Phelps of Aberdeen, WA; 1 sister: Marilyn (Jim) Bonneville of Terrace Heights, WA; and his best friend: Bob (Judy) Thomas of Yakima. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 half-brothers and 3 half-sisters.
